River Row Retaining Wall

Bron Afon Community Housing (Bron Afon) is looking to appoint a suitably qualified Principal Contractor to undertake the replacement of a gabion basket retaining wall with new concrete foundation and gabion baskets.The successful contractor will be expected to clear the vegetation inside the working area which may include the removal of Japanese knotweed. Waste consignment notes are to be provided to the Contract Administrator. Following this the existing concrete plinths need to be broken up and disposed off site along with the existing gabion baskets. Existing stone can be set aside for reuse where it is not contaminated. A new concrete foundation, gabion basket and plinth need to be installed in line with the structural engineer’s drawings. The handrails are to be prepared and redecoration or new galvanised railing are to be installed. This will be confirmed during the mobilisation phase.There have been some major improvement works previously undertaken in areas adjacent to the site such as the installation of metal railings.The area in scope of this contract is Torfaen County Borough, South Wales.Bron Afon is looking to commence this contract in June/July 2023.Tenderers will be required to survey the contract area and submit pricing to fully complete the project including all preliminary and associated costs whether expressly stated in the appending pricing documentation or not.Bron Afon is ideally seeking to appoint a contractor that has good knowledge of the local area and building types and is able to act as a partner in ensuring the works are completed on time and to a high standard.
