The objectives of this research are to:

1.Explain, through the use of case studies, with a particular focus on transparency, tax, and valuation, how cadastral systems in comparable jurisdictions:
a.operate in practice, associated costs, funding mechanisms, and benefits of the approach;
b.the data used/required, noting data sources and quality;
c.who typical users are, the volume of use, and for what purposes;
d.explain any other relevant issues, considerations, or constraints that may exist.
2.Suggest issues and/or areas for future consideration and/or research that would be necessary should Scotland wish to purse the development of a cadastral system.
