The Rhiwbina Station Platform Sub-Structure is located at CRY 1m 78ch, OS Map Reference ST 158809.Rhiwbina Station Platform Sub-Structure is a single platform station with a single track. The platform construction includes precast reinforced concrete units for 34 No. bays. Access is achieved from the Eastern end (L/M) via an access ramp. A waiting area comprises 3 No. bays adjacent to bay No. 6, 7 and 8 from L/M end and is located to the D/S of the platform.The platform articulation includes two precast reinforced concrete slabs per bay. The slabs are in-turn supported by reinforced concrete portal frames on combined footings. The portal frames are braced by h-shaped reinforced concrete cross members at either end of the portal frames. The waiting area deck slab comprises transverse filler beams supported on 3 pairs of longitudinal steel beams (rails).
