description

The Senior Data Scientist will support the transformation and modernisation of organisational data analytics capabilities in support of the organisation's Data Strategy and Public Sector Reform ambitions. The role will focus on delivering new business analytical assets that improve client focused decision making, increase benefit take-up, support fraud identification and prevention initiatives, and drive the reduction of operational error.

Working closely with Data Management, Business Intelligence, Operational, and Policy teams, the Senior Data Scientist will support the review and enhancement of benefit data structures, data capture processes, and associated data management practices to maximise the value of a client view of data.

They will be responsible for designing, building, and documenting robust, scalable, and trusted transformational logic that enables the creation of a unified, client-centric view of benefit data across multiple services and systems. They will establish and evolve a business-trusted analytical datamart that provides high-quality, governed, and reusable data assets to support advanced analytics, reporting, and business intelligence requirements.

Working collaboratively with Data Architects, Data Engineers, Business Analysts, and Power BI Developers, the Senior Data Scientist will ensure analytical datasets and data models are scalable, performant, and optimised for consumption through Power BI and other reporting and visualisation platforms.

As part of a multidisciplinary Agile delivery team, the Senior Data Scientist will develop analytical prototypes, statistical models, and data science solutions that are robust, evidence-based, and aligned with organisational data standards, governance frameworks, and architectural principles. The role will provide technical leadership in the application of advanced analytics, statistical modelling, machine learning, and data science best practices to support strategic and operational outcomes across the organisation.
