description

Pond and scrape creation at the Colin Burt Reserve within Wild Strathfillan, an ambitious landscape-scale nature restoration project and partnership in the north of the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park.

The Colin Burt Reserve is a nature reserve, located within the Wild Strathfillan partnership area, and managed by volunteers of the Colin Burt Reserve charity (registered in Scotland). The reserve was purchased in 2005 by the charity and was opened as a memorial to the late Colin Burt. The reserve is situated to the north of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, lying south of the River Dochart and north of the A85. The reserve is 16.5 hectares in area and includes conifer plantation, areas of recent native woodland planting, and 9.5 hectares of wet grassland habitat.

Improving the condition of the wet grassland habitat at the Colin Burt Reserve has been identified as a key nature restoration objective. To meet this objective, we would like to create a wildlife pond and two scrapes.
