Award of 1 x Accountant

This post will form a part of the social security Finance team, delivering a full suite of finance services supporting Scotland's social security role. Finance is responsible for delivery of a professional accounting and financial management & reporting service for the Social Security Programme.The suitable candidate will need to be CCAB or CIMA qualified, have strong communication skills, both written and oral, with a proven ability to explain financial information effectively to stakeholders and non-finance professionals, and be willing to be flexible to help in other areas given the nature of the project environment within which we are working.The main responsibilities of the role are as follows:(i) Develop and implement robust financial reporting and control mechanisms for all aspects of the Social Security Programme, and produce the monthly monitoring report for both the Financial Reporting Board and the Programme Board(ii) Assist in the development in a 5 year financial plan(iv) Monitor the financial aspects of the major change programme and provide meaningful analysis of the financial information, including review of business cases, that benefits internal decision making(v) Ensure that all financial compliance systems and procedures are properly applied. Use performance information to identify issues and liaise with social security directorate staff to address problems. Ensure that adequate and relevant guidance is available to staff(vi) Build effective working relationships within the Social Security Directorate
