description

The EGAP will be delivered in six key work packages, which are outlined below:

Work Packages

WP1: Energy Landscape - Utilising regional level data to identify suitable and viable sites for renewable energy generation within the region, across urban and rural areas, varying technologies, and delivery arrangements. The work package aims to identify at least 20 opportunity sites to take through to feasibility and business case development.

WP2: Community Engagement - Aims to understand how and where to engage communities in renewable energy projects to accelerate community benefit and support for projects in Y&NY.

WP3: Planning - Identify and develop a strategy for planning barriers, including challenges in protected landscapes and heritage areas. This also involves engagement with planners across the other work packages.

WP4: Feasibility and Business Case Development - This work package will be focussed on the development of feasibility studies and business cases for energy and heat generation projects, building on work already undertaken by the Local Authorities.

WP5 - Technology - An analysis and review of the energy generation and storage technologies available and whether certain technologies may be suited to meet the unique needs of the region.

WP6 - Financial - The development of financial models to support energy delivery in the region.

The work in this specification looks to address how York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority can support Feasibility and Business Case Development to build up investment ready projects that can support delivering local energy independence for key specific sites within the region and the local authority-owned estate.
