description
Proposals are invited for the supply of Intellectual Property Consultancy. The successful suppliers will be responsible for providing these services and ensuring successful delivery of the contract.
Context
The ESC business model will involve activity where the Catapult is involved in 3 types of project. The first is internally funded activity where the Catapult will generate its own intellectual property. The second is collaborative R&D, funded from various sources, and involving partners and sub-contractors spanning academia, SMEs through to established large corporates. The third is bilateral contractual arrangements where a third party has contracted the Catapult to deliver specific pieces of work.
In general, across all activities, there will be a mix of pertinent background IP in addition to newly emerging arising IP. The background and arising IP will either be owned by third parties or by the Catapult itself, and irrespective of ownership, the Catapult will need to have appropriate systems and processes in place to ensure IP is managed appropriately. The Catapult will also be managing a range of third party information and producing outputs, (e.g. reports, slide packs and other information) on behalf of others with varying degrees of confidentiality restrictions. The Catapult therefore needs to ensure all confidential information it is in receipt of or producing is effectively defined, managed and aligned with the agreed approach to IP Management.
In addition, new and existing Catapult staff will require training covering IP best practises, specific procedures and overall IP knowledge.
