The Contracting Authority currently commission the range of enhanced services from GP practice, as LIS schemes. This way of working does not necessarily ensure all patients have access to the same range of services across Brent. In order to ensure high quality services and equity of access for patients. The contracting approach:

  • Ensures population coverage
  • Helps to establish the Primary Care Home model
  • Ensures networks are held to account for delivery against standards that have been set

It is not considered that any provider other than the existing GP practices could offer the service in an integrated and coherent way as per the Contracting Authority's commissioning requirements.

This contract is therefore being awarded to 3 Network providers who will subcontract with GP practices, who hold a registered list size and are considered the single capable providers of this service. The Contracting Authority considers services outlined in the Brent enhanced service offer can only be delivered by practices with a registered list size. It is considered that this contract is suited for delivery within Primary care and due to its nature; no other providers would have the capability to undertake this service.

The exact breakdown of the contract value by network Provider will be dependent on activity. For the purposes of this notice, the value has been divided equally in thirds by Provider whereas in practice, it may vary. The overall value of £4,200,000 is not subject to change.
