Project Objectives
| - | Improve the representativeness, accuracy and credibility of iRAP model use on the SRN by including the shunt crash type. |
| - | Better understand how shunt collisions are initiated, what influences their severity, and what measures we can take to reduce their number and severity. |
We will achieve this by

| - | Undertaking a review of previous work and undertake scoping review to inform modelling options |
| - | Select and prepare suitable data ready for modelling. |
| - | Undertake modelling to produce crash modification factors (CMFs) |
2026/2027
| - | Use the outcomes from WP3 to create a shunt crash type within the iRAP model testbed |
| - | Undertake shunt crash type validation to ensure the shunt crash type works for other road networks as well as the SRN |
| - | Present findings, including the shunt crash type development work and the validation work, to iRAP Global Technical Committee. |
