description
Charnwood Borough Council are seeking to gauge interest in an exiting opportunity to provide catering facilities at The Outwoods Country park. as part of Charnwood Borough Councils vision of providing a comprehensive high quality visitor offer at the site, which is a gateway site for the National Forest and one of the key visitor hub sites within the Charnwood Forest Regional Park
We are looking for an operator to manage the operation of a new Café facility to be constructed in the coming months by renovating and extending the existing cottage on site.
In a 2018 visitor survey, over 90% of respondents expressed an interest in some catering facilities with the majority focused around snacks, sandwiches and light meals. A temporary facility serving from a converted Double decker bus proved highly popular and it is with that knowledge, that the council is now seeking to upgrade and expand the level of service provided.
It will be for the operator to develop their own business model and with over 1.4 million people living within half an hour's drive of Charnwood Forest plus the staging of special events (a recent sculpture trail attracted over 16,000 people walking the trail during a six week period) this opportunity offers a lot of potential.
The purpose of this soft market testing is to engage with the market to determine the level of interest in this venture and obtain market-led feed-back so as we can set out our tender strategy and specification that provides the best solution for both parties.
Tenders will be issued during October 2020 and the opening is scheduled for Easter 2021
