description

Technical advice to support next phase of the material roadmaps.

The Climate Change Act 2008 committed the UK to an 80% reduction in carbon emissions relative to the levels in 1990, to be achieved by 2050. In June 2019, secondary legislation was passed that extended that target to "at least 100%".

The Department for Transport (DfT) published a high-level strategy of its plan to achieving net zero in the Transport Decarbonisation Plan (TDP).

National Highways has a key part to play in achieving the UK's 2050 net zero target which is underpinned by our strategic objectives and the priority of lowering carbon as detailed in the National highways net wero plan. .

This project will deliver the next step in evolving our Carbon Net Zero Roadmaps and decarbonisation plans across concrete, steel and asphalt to support the National Highways Net Zero strategy.
