description

As part of the Government's commitment to decarbonise road transport, improve air quality and improve efficiency of freight movements, the Department for Transport commissioned a study led by WSP (supported by, Risk Solutions and Apollo Vehicle Safety) to determine the technical feasibility of trialling LHVs on GB roads. The final report - delivered December 2023 - recommends piloting trials of LHV combinations with a small number of operators on specific routes under tight restrictions to build experience of safe operations of these vehicle types on UK roads to inform any future LHV trials.
