description

Thinning works in a 2.5 hectare wood known as Dolymynach dam woods, located in the Elan valley just over 5 miles to the southwest of Rhayader (Grid ref SN906617). This is a small broadleaf woodland on the edge of Dolymynach reservoir which requires thinning of dense birch regen throughout the wood. Most of the trees to be felled are less than 11cm dbh. Resultant brash will need to be stacked into piles, away from any sites of botanical interest such as rocks or tree trunks. Communication is key with these works, and contractors will be expected to inform RSPB staff whenever they plan to be on sitePeriod: between October 2023 and end February 2024.
