This purchase is funded by Welsh Government SMART, through the Building Capacity for Collaboration programme. The equipment will enable the BioComposites Centre to expand their capability to investigate the complex microstructure of composite materials, natural materials, and emerging products in the circular economy. While our focus is on bio-based materials including timber, fiber composites, sheep’s wool, agricultural residues we also work with a wide range of industries to address challenges in waste management and recycling. The combination of high-resolution microscopy and spectroscopy will permit analysis of new products, microstructures, distribution of treatments and numerous other materials challenges
