description

Works were for the Aber Road Culvert is an existing watercourse culvert for the Llwyn Ysgolaig Stream, comprising a circular brick invert, random masonry side walls, and slate slabs for the soffit. Parts have been replaced with equivalent concrete pipes (believed to be 750mm dia). Owing to the alignment and gradient, the section of the culvert crossing the highway is prone to blockage with gravels and cobbles. The nature of the material and the lack of access points makes it exceedingly difficult to clean. Additionally in major weather events overland flows cascade down the road cutting bank. The ensuing flooding affects the highway and nearby properties. The primary works were:- Protection of the bank with FlexMSE hydroseeded bagwork or similar- Construction of an access trench with bespoke covers for 4.5m of the road crossing
