Food Standards Scotland (FSS) is seeking information from suppliers capable of providing data and insights on the purchase, composition and nutritional content of “meal deals” in Scotland.
Meal deals are defined for the purpose of this exercise as multi-buy promotions typically consisting of ready-to-eat, cold meal deals comprising a main item, a snack, and a drink sold together in supermarkets or convenience stores at a cheaper price than when purchased individually.. This excludes hot takeaway meal deals and meal deals intended to be heated before consumption.
This Prior Information Notice is issued to:
- Understand the availability of relevant market data
- Inform potential future procurement activity
- Engage with suppliers capable of providing relevant datasets and analytical insight
The data will support FSS in strengthening the evidence base on out-of-home food consumption and its impact on dietary behaviours.
