Award of PKC13146 Group Work in Schools

Perth & Kinross Council were in a position to allocate additional funding to expand and continue piloting counselling services in schools to include group work. This additional service would not reduce the current delivery of 1:1 counselling in schools but would allow for an additional flexible approach that would be offered to schools across Perth & Kinross to opt into. It is anticipated that the provider's practitioner(s) will work in close collaboration with school staff to design tailored themes that align with school priorities and the specific needs of students. This partnership will ensure that sessions are relevant and impactful, with clear communication to students regarding the expected outcomes. The aim would be to increase accessibility by providing a less intensive option to receive support.Evaluation of this work is fundamental. The evaluation should give a holistic overview of effectiveness in enhancing coping strategies avoiding or complimenting the need for onward referral. In addition, however the evaluation should carefully assess the impact on accessibility, particularly in relation to males and young people from less affluent area and minority groups.
