description
Marine Directorate wishes to seek a tender for servicing and maintenance of marine diesel engines. The task will involve carrying out an investigation into the condition of the Port Main engine after a cylinder head was found to be leaking. The engine is a Wartsila 9L20, Engine number PAAE006107.The recently overhauled Port Main engine has run approximately 1000 hrs since its last 24,000 hrs overhaul, carried out by Wartsila in Hull, November 2023. During some routine maintenance on the glacier filter, some unknown and unexpected debris where discovered along with some corrosion. This lead the onboard engineers to investigate further into the state of the engine. This investigation found cooling water leaking from exhaust valve/injector on No. 9 unit, No.9 line rust stained and potential damage to the bottom end bearing.
