Site ClearanceAll overgrown vegetation over the entire length is to be cut back to expose the edging of the existing cycle path network. The existing cobbled edging is to be removed. The vegetation is to be cut back a minimum of 1m from the existing edging to help with path extension. All cleared material is to be disposed of off-site.EarthworksThe existing path surfacing will be fully excavated and disposed of off-site. The Contractor shall identify if the make-up beneath the existing surfacing is suitable for re-use and obtain the Project Managers approval to re-use. Areas of unsuitable make-up shall be excavated and removed in accordance with the Contract drawings. widened to 3m.The two sets of steps are to be fully removed and disposed of off-site in accordance with the Contract drawings. The paths will be re-graded as per the Contract drawings.DrainageThere is a requirement to install drainage to cope with the surface water run-off from the embankment at the locations shown on the Contract drawings. They mainly consist of installing a dished channel at both location and a gully with grating and frame at one location with the outlet to connect into an existing manhole.Footways and Paved AreasThe path will be centrally widened i.e. from the centre of the existing path – 1.5m either side. Precast flat top concrete edging will be installed to form the path edges with the path forming a camber to shed surface water either side. The path will have type 1 placed and compacted before laying single layer of asphalt to specified depth and camber.All levels and tie ins will be the responsibility of the Contractor to confirm and seek the Projects Managers approval.Traffic Signs and Road MarkingsOver the extents of the site there will be permanent bollards and cycle markings to be installed as per the Contract drawings.
