MG ALBA invites applications from service providers with the expertise and knowledge to provide the following services.

Services

-Advise the Chief Executive and senior management on matters relating to remuneration, recruitment, redundancy, HR administration and employment best practice. MG ALBA has 38 staff members.
-Support and when appropriate initiate staff programmes for learning and development.
-Oversee objective-setting and appraisal processes.

Key tasks

-Liaise as appropriate with MG ALBA Chief Executive in order to discuss HR issues and priorities and to agree desired outcomes and deliverables.
-Manage formal correspondence between line managers and employees on matters of terms and conditions, salary, joining and exit events.
-Maintain currency of employment contracts and staff handbook in line with legislation, best practice and staff consultation.
-Manage performance appraisal process and remuneration planning.
-Advise senior management on legal and procedural requirements relating to staff issues.
-Oversee HR administration and ensure correct use of HR software tools.
-Quarterly HR Update report for management and board committee.

Proposal. The proposal should be no more than 3 pages setting out the proposed approach to the job, expertise and knowledge. It should include a suggested pattern of work, time to be spent on site and the total expected cost of the engagement based on a daily rate.

Detailed tasks and notes

-The engagement will start in April 2020 for a 3 year term with annual reviews. Proposals should be aware that all employee files will be up to date and that a software tool, Simply Personnel, is in place for HR administration by the office manager.
-There are no significant ongoing HR issues at present.
-We would expect the HR adviser to review, manage and keep up to date:

Employee contracts (senior staff),

Employee files,

Staff handbook, practices and procedures.

-We would expect the HR adviser to advise the Chief Executive on any matter requiring remedy or action in relation to employee matters, to advise on the consistent application of appraisal and objective-setting criteria across the organisation and to act as a source of information to staff in relation to the support afforded them by the organisation as an aid to achieving a healthy work-life balance.
-We would expect the HR adviser to deal with correspondence and processes in relation to new starts, leavers, absence, maternity and paternity leave, secondments or placements to other organisations, entitlements etc as they arise.
-We would expect the HR adviser to oversee annual employee appraisal process and related objective-setting and personal development planning.
-We would expect the HR adviser to arrange for training and coaching to be delivered to:

All staff in relation to diversity, equality and other relevant matters,

Line managers in relation to management, objective-setting and appraisals.

  • We would also expect the HR adviser to advise in relation to disciplinary, grievance or other matters in which employee rights are in point (although this may be also be sourced from legal advisers).
