The Common Services Agency (more commonly known as NHS National Services Scotland), a statutory body constituted in terms of the National Health Service (Scotland) Act 1978 (as amended) and having its headquarters at Gyle Square, 1 South Gyle Crescent, Edinburgh, EH12 9ED acting through its division the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (“SNBTS”) requires the supply of Dry Ice to its main manufacturing site At the Jack Copland Centre and regional hub/transfusion centres.
SNBTS is the specialist provider of transfusion medicine in Scotland, supplying high quality blood, tissues and cells services. SNBTS works with communities, hospitals and professionals to ensure that the donor's gift is used wisely and effectively for the benefit of patients.
Dry Ice in pellet form (10kg bags) is used for the transport of frozen blood products, tissue products such as bone, tendons and hearts valves and cells. The use of dry ice is to ensure that the cold chain can be maintained.
