Screening clinical service to provide dedicated clinical support for antenatal and newborn haemoglobinopathy screening laboratories, and other healthcare professionals delivering the Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Programme, ensuring screening services are delivered to a satisfactory clinical standard.
Objectives of the service include:
- Supporting newborn and antenatal enquiries. This will be in line with National Screening Programme Policy and standards which will involve checking website for changes and updates; latest policies must be adhered to at all times.
- Telephone and e-mail support for clinical screening staff
- Liaison with Programme Centre including two meetings per year.
- Participation in twice yearly workshops
