description
Norwich City Council was awarded UK government's Levelling Up Fund (LUF) to deliver improvements to Sloughbottom Park. The project is centred on health and wellbeing, aiming to improve the park accessibility and amenities for all users, supporting more people to live healthier and more active lifestyles from a young age.
This construction project will deliver a linked set of new community and sporting facilities, including:
| • | A new Sports Hub designed to Sport England and Football Foundation standards which will include new changing facilities, including fully accessible facilities; changing places toilet; multi use studio; refreshment outlet and associated office reception and storage facilities |
| • | Full refurbishment of existing Pavilion to provide a new café facility, public WCs and a community use room, to serve park users. |
| • | Existing landscaping to the front of the Pavilion will be upgraded to allow for community use and easy transition between the new pavilion café and the new destination play park. |
| • | To the south of the park sits an existing BMX track, this construction contract includes providing new footpaths and lighting to the track and the construction of a new modular storage building with lighting and potable water and associated facilities at the BMX track. |
| • | Park's supporting infrastructure improvements throughout. The car park will be resurfaced with a new vehicle entrance, lighting and marked parking bays. Paths around the park will be resurfaced and lighting to the central path through the park to improve safety and visibility. |
| • | Signage will be installed to assist with public navigation, particularly for the entrance into Sweetbriar Marshes from Sloughbottom Park. |
| • | In addition to the main contractors works the following will be completed by specialist contractors under a separate contract: |
| o | a new AGP football pitch will be constructed |
| o | a new inclusive destination play park. |
| o | Improvements and resurfacing of the BMX track, including a new electric start gate. |
