description

The proposed scheme comprises internal reconfiguration and refurbishment works to expand and modernise the existing kitchen facilities. The works will include the demolition of selected internal walls to create a larger and more efficient kitchen space, removal of an existing staff kitchenette, associated doors, wall finishes, vinyl flooring and minor wall projections.

New fire-rated stud walls will be constructed to separate the kitchen from the Manager's Office, together with additional fire-rated internal partitions and fire doors to form a kitchen office and a dedicated fridge/freezer room. Existing access arrangements will be reconfigured to provide a wider door opening, allowing direct trolley access from the main corridors into the kitchen.

Refurbishment works will include the installation of new anti-slip flooring with coved skirtings, floor-to-ceiling hygiene wall cladding-incorporating brushed (2B finish) 304-grade stainless steel wall panels-redecoration, new all-electric kitchen equipment and shelving, to meet current standards across the Hampshire County Council estate.

Mechanical and electrical works will include rewiring of the kitchen, installation of additional power outlets to provide future capacity, replacement of existing gas appliances with all-electric equipment, and upgrading of lighting throughout. The existing ventilation canopy will be modified and extended to accommodate increased steam extraction requirements.

As part of the wider project, staff room kitchenettes on the ground, first and second floors will be refurbished with new base and wall units, worktops, splashbacks and sinks. External works will also be undertaken within the courtyard to install new fencing and a pergola to provide privacy, together with additional fire safety works and other associated minor works.
