This contract aims to provide advanced GIS and R training for the Coastal Zone Management Authority and Institute (CZMAI) in Belize.
CZMAI are the organisation with the legal remit to deliver marine spatial planning in Belize. This includes developing and implementing the Belize Sustainable Ocean Plan (BSOP), a marine spatial plan for Belize which is a key milestone of the Belize Blue Bond agreement, updating Belize's National Integrated Coastal Zone plan, processing and making available Belize's marine data in a spatial format.
Additionally, their role includes providing support to other Belize organisations such as the Belize Fisheries Department, Ministry of Blue Economy and MPA co-managers with their marine data protocols, analysis and reporting.
This contract will:
Build on work delivered to CZMAI last financial year and directly support the capacity building identified within the National MPA Fisheries Monitoring Strategy for Belize.
Ensure the CZMAI team have the skills and capacity to process marine data, implement their legal remits under Belize legislation and the Belize Blue Bond and support other government organisations with their marine data protocols, analysis and reporting.
