description

The overall objective of this RFI is to inform GNI on the availability of:

  • a)Pay As You Go (PAYG) Metering System; and
  • b)Smart Metering System for Credit Meters

on the Gas Networks Ireland Network. This validation of potential solution options will inform GNI's roadmap for the delivery of these services in the near future.

In line with existing regulatory requirements, GNI would like to consider the following options:

1.PAYG Meter Population (No Subsequent Expansion to Credit Meter Population) - PAYG Meter Population (No Subsequent Expansion to Credit Meter Population) - all PAYG meters (and the existing PAYG back-office system) to be replaced / upgraded with multi-channel vending capabilities. Credit metering population is not in scope - no requirement to make provision for future expansion to credit meter population.
2.PAYG Meter Population (Option for Subsequent Expansion to Credit Meter Population) - all PAYG meters replaced / upgraded, but design and procurement makes allowance for the potential future expansion to the credit meter population
3.Full Meter Population - Full meter population to be replaced / upgraded to smart metering, with the deployment schedule front-loading the delivery of PAYG metering

In this regard, Gas Networks Ireland is seeking responses to this Request for Expressions of Interest and Information.

Stage 1 - Request for Expressions of Interest and Information This stage is the initial market sounding stage. Gas Networks Ireland are now inviting responses from interested parties who wish to have the opportunity to present solutions to Gas Networks Ireland for the supply of PAYG and smart metering solutions for gas users for use in the GNI Network.

Stage 2 - Engagement Sessions Following a review of submissions, Gas Networks Ireland may invite individual selected respondents to attend sessions where Gas Networks Ireland will define further its requirement and further explore the respondent's submission.
