description
TfL is currently developing its Common Operational View and Incident Management System (COV IMS). This development is being undertaken by TfL with the support of an external delivery partner (Sopra Steria) and is due to complete in 2022.
In summary COV IMS will deliver the following:
| • | the ability to process new streams of data to improve demand management and disruption identification; |
| • | the capability to monitor and deliver strategic control of the road network, increasing the focus on sustainable modes of travel in line with the Mayor's Transport Strategy; |
| • | improved information to stakeholders and customers, including variable message signs (replacing the Pinpoint LDIS UI), and information passed through TfL open API interfaces; |
| • | replacement of TfL's current Traffic Information Management System (TIMS) with a new incident management system; and |
| • | a user interface for the SITS applications (Common Operational View). |
TfL has full ownership of the intellectual property for COV IMS and is approaching the market to understand the options for commercially exploiting this software.
