description

NHS England South East (NHSE SE) is seeking a Provider who has the capability and capacity to undertake an independent review of the current services and pathways within prisons, against the expectations set out within the national document "Meeting the healthcare needs of adults with a learning disability and autistic adults in prison".

NHSE SE wish to understand the indicative prevalence of prisoners aged 18 years and over, with a learning disability and / or autism, by establishment, using local Health Needs Assessment data or relevant national prevalence data. Within this analysis specific consideration also needs to be given to protected characteristics implications and differences.

As part of the review, several questions are to be addressed relating to, screening of prisoners prior to arrival, full health assessments, expertise and competence of staff, accessibility to health care services including both physical and mental health provision and information sharing protocols.

Bidders are directed to the specification provided with this opportunity for full details of the programme's objectives and requirements.

The contract term will be for a duration of up to 6 months, (with a potential option to extend for up to a further 3 months by agreement with the Commissioner), with a total maximum contract value of £100,000.

The new contract is due to commence on 1st April 2023 and it is the expectation that the review should be complete within 6 months from contract commencement. Please note that dates are subject to change.
