The Royal Botanic Gardens Kew are seeking to appoint a service provider to undertake Fire Risk Assessments for Kew Gardens (TW9 3AE) and Wakehurst (RH17 6TN).
Both sites are open to the general public throughout the year between 10:00 - 19:00 (BST) and 10:00 - 16:00 (GMT).
Both sites comprise the following building types including:
| • | Plant rooms containing higher risk assets eg. boilers, electrical LV panels adjacent to HV transformers, mechanical moving plant, etc.; |
| • | Conservatories and greenhouses of glass construction; |
| • | Agricultural outhouses; |
| • | Office space; |
| • | Science laboratories; |
| • | Educational facilities and lecture theatres; |
| • | Commercial and retail space; |
| • | Underground basement areas; |
| • | Archive stores for long term storage of specimens; |
| • | Public restaurants and kitchens; |
| • | Recreational facilities; |
| • | Fuel storage facilities and on-site generators; |
| • | Confined spaces and restricted access areas; |
| • | Galleries housing valuable artworks; and |
| • | Residential occupied buildings. |
A number of buildings contain enclosed lift shafts. A high number of buildings are listed between Grade I and II and are of significant architectural value.
The project start date will be 1st October 2019 The project completion date will be 31st January 2020
