Walsall Council is looking to appoint a single competent contractor to make improvements to a number of park areas within the 'Bloxwich & Leamore Parks' project. The works will include sport, play, hard and soft landscaping to enhance the experience for Walsall residence.
The Bloxwich & Leamore Parks project is split into 4 locations;
Bloxwich:
- oBloxwich Park
- oMemorial Gardens - Pat Collins
- oPromenade Gardens
Leamore:
- oLeamore Park
As there will be a number of parks redevelopment schemes being carried out within the Bloxwich area during similar periods the works will need to be phased, with Bloxwich taking precedent then Leamore.
Bloxwich Park & Memorial Gardens - Sport, play, hard and soft landscaping improvements to all 3 sites aims to:
- oAdd colour, interest, and seasonal variety to the backdrop of Bloxwich Park to increase overall amenity value
- oActivate a sense of play within the park, upgrading the existing play space with imaginative/ interpretative and formal play based upon the Pat Collins Funfair themed colours.
- oPathway upgrades to allow for enhanced circulation routes, sense of safety and spatial hierarchy, together with additional seating etc.
- oReduce the maintenance need of amenity grass to encourage and improve biodiversity value
- oIncrease a sense of safety and time spent within the park
- oEnhance connection to local history/cultural activities
Leamore Park - Sports, play, hard and soft landscaping as improvement aims to:
- oProvide a playground catering for all ages of children based on the theme of 'The Sea' providing local school children with the experience of visiting and playing at the seaside.
- oReduce maintenance of mown grass areas
- oIncrease a sense of safety and time spent within the park
- oProvide space for the local children to play and adults to exercise through an upgraded walking and running surface of the 'Golden Mile' within the park.
- oHard and soft landscaping improvements, together with the planting of new trees and shrubs
- oNew seating and lighting to improve the security and feeling of the park
- oRelocated Davey Lamp sculpture
The route to market being used is a mini competition under the Pagabo Dynamic Purchasing System for Small Works. The framework fee applicable to is 1.5% which is charged monthly.
The works are to be procured via a single stage tender process.
