The purpose of this requirement is to upgrade the heating system at Marks Farm Community Centre and Silver End Village Hall, as well as the supply and installation of a new Photovoltaic Array on the roof of Silver End Village Hall.

Silver End Village Hall is a large community centre in Silver End. Its main use is to provide a community facility for local residents. It has a changing room to the rear managed by Braintree District Council and current tenant's, include a Social Club, Silver End Parish Council offices, ECC Family Hub and small to medium sized events business, who hire out their space to a nursery, a library and for events.

Marks Farm Community Centre is a medium sized community centre in Braintree. Its main use is to provide community facilities for local residents. It has a changing room to the rear managed by Braintree District Council and its current tenant is a small to medium sized events business, who hire out their space to a nursery and also for events.

The existing heating systems in both buildings have reached the end of their serviceable life and are now life expired, resulting in increasing maintenance needs and risk of failure. The refurbishment will replace outdated components, improve accessibility, renew mechanical and electrical systems, and ensure compliance with current building, health and safety and landlord obligations. The works will also support ongoing lettability of the building's and contribute to maintaining statutory standards such as minimum energy efficiency requirements.
