description

The International Passenger Survey (IPS) is crucial for measuring the impact of travel expenditure on the UK, with key inputs going into the National Accounts, most noticeably the balance of payments and household expenditure statistics. The IPS captures data on expenditure in the UK by visiting overseas residents and data on expenditure overseas by UK residents visiting abroad. These data are used by National Accounts in the compilation of Trade in Services estimates. The last review of the expenditure data that the IPS delivered to National Accounts was in 2009; a long time ago given the importance of the expenditure data.

Objective: To deliver a report that reviews the expenditure data collected from the IPS, assessing the extent to which the data captures the requirements needed for the National Accounts and stakeholders, and recommending new or improved methods, processes and systems for meeting these requirements.

We anticipate that the contract will run for a period of 3-4 months from 4/03/2019 - 03/07/2019.
