AWARD NOTICE

NHS England South (South West) were seeking a suitable provider(s) to carry out Health Needs Assessments (HNA) for the following Lots. Interested Providers were able bid for one or both Lots. Lot 1 is for a full HNA and Lot 2 is for a refresh HNA.

  1. Full HNA for Liaison and Diversion Services in three police force areas in the South West:
Devon and Cornwall
Swindon and Wiltshire

A Health Needs Assessment (HNA) involves the collection and subsequent analysis of data on a population's demand and need for health services. This provides guidance for prioritising health needs and services and determining strategic priorities for the medium and long term.

HNAs play an important part in guiding an organisation in effectively balancing their efforts in achieving the goals and objectives specific to their strategic direction alongside the government policy and direction of the time.

Liaison and Diversion Services (L&D) (Full)

NHS England (NHS E) commissions Liaison and Diversion services for those identified by the police and other services for arrestable offences and offers screening and assessment for a range of vulnerabilities.

A collaborative commissioning arrangement will bring these areas of work into one service for which the Health Needs Analysis will inform the model.

A health needs analysis including a review of the specification for Liaison and Diversion across the Devon & Cornwall; Swindon & Wiltshire; Gloucestershire police force areas. A separate report will be required for each constabulary and therefore a total of 3 standalone Health Needs Assessments will be completed by the successful bidder.

The focus for this HNA is the Prison cluster in South Gloucestershire and Wiltshire.

HMP Erlestoke is a category C prison accommodating adult male sentenced prisoners with a role of 488
