The MoA supports a collaborative project to develop a new way of structured surveillance of species in an innovative manner that uses the volunteer recording community to collect data on multiple species groups from a single network of locations across England. This is part of our Evidence Programme and aims to secure improved evidence on a wider range of species and give better quality data through more sustainable, cost effective mechanisms than currently. This information is needed to support a wide range of needs, including meeting our reporting obligations under European and national legislation and policy, and ensuring that management interventions secure value for money.

This MOA will complete the local work required with Local Environmental Record Centres, to establish the site network, recruit and train volunteer surveyors, ensure access to sites is secured for survey and ensure that volunteer surveyors are supported and co-ordinated to deliver the surveys.
