description

NHS Arden & Greater East Midlands Commissioning Support Unit (AGEM CSU) on behalf of NHS England Specialised Services are seeking suitably qualified and experienced providers to deliver Intestinal Failure Services for Type II and III patients in England.

Intestinal failure (IF) comprises a group of disorders with many different causes, all of which are characterised by an inability to maintain adequate nutrition via the intestines. It results from obstruction, abnormal motility, major surgical resection, congenital defect or disease-associated loss of absorption. It is characterised not only by the inability to maintain protein-energy, but also often in difficulties in maintaining water, electrolyte or micronutrient balance, particularly when there has been a major loss of length of the small bowel. If it persists for more than a few days it demands treatment with the intravenous delivery of nutrients and water (parenteral nutrition or PN).

The ITT is divided in to lots and bidders are invited to respond to either one of the following lots (please note that bidders are not able to bid for both):

Section 2: To provide services for Type II and Type III patients
Section 3: To provide services for Type III patients only

AND the mandatory Section 1.

The Invitation to Tender (ITT) documentation will be available from 4th September 2015 and should be completed and all bids submitted by the closing date of 5pm on 26th October 2015.

All submissions will be evaluated using the scoring criteria which is contained within the ITT -Document 1.

Clarifications may be asked during the procurement process, the deadline for clarification questions is 5pm on 16th October 2015.
