WIRE EDM

The Satellite Applications Catapult has a requirement to procure and install Wire EDM for AM.

The requirements includes:

1. Perform the separation by wire cutting of 3D metal additive parts built with from the build plates.
2. Allow the separation of parts built with alloys, like Inconel 718.
3. Have the adequate work dimensions to remove parts of a buildplate of 420x420 mm build plate, with max part height of 400mm
4. Have the ability to separate parts from segmented buildplates (~ 135 x 135 mm)
5. Have a resolution of 0.001mm
6. Have a cutting accuracy of at least ±0.1 mm.
7. Compatible with wire diameters of 0.2mm.
8. Be equipped with CNC control and GUI interface control panel.
9. Include additional servicing equipment needed: for example the chiller.

(Indicate what services are not included that the Catapult needs to provide in the facility.)

10. Include a device for collection of the cut parts.
11. Allow 4-axis Wire EDM applications
12. Operate with compressed air pressures between 6 and 8 bars
13. Operate from a 220-240V UK mains or 3phase power supply
14. Include delivery, installation and commissioning at the said address
15. Include basic use training (for two people) at the above address
16. Include documentation including drawings and operation manuals
17. Include CE certification, proof of manufacture to UK standards and evidence of supply chain
18. Include 3 years support and maintenance
