There is currently no qualification in traffic medicine. Recognising this, the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI) developed a course leading to a certificate in traffic medicine and the first course was held in March 2015.
The course covers:

| • | Driver Psychology and behaviour |
| • | The impact of medical conditions on varying elements of the driving task |
| • | Driver Assessment |
| • | Cognitive assessment techniques and their interpretation in relation to driving |
The course covers every aspect of the work provided by the medical advisors in Drivers Medical Casework.
Holding this certificate would provide MAs with a highly credible qualification in the subject they are dealing with on a daily basis. When representing the Agency at court or other external meetings, holding such a qualification provides much greater visibility, credibility and significance.
