Canary Wharf station has been identified as a prime retail opportunity to generate income for TfL. TfL are seeking suppliers to undertake the detailed design and construction of 9no. retail units and 2no. storage areas along the southern side of Canary Wharf station. The Contractor will act collaboratively with TfL Engineering to complete the Detailed Design and coordinate others (such as CUBIC, Telent etc.) as the Principal Designer throughout the works. The contractor is to explore Value Engineering throughout the design.

The scope of works include:

-Validate any assumptions via surveys.
-Strip out all existing services within the affected areas
-Structural alterations to the existing structural steelworks
-New electrical switchroom for the retail units from the existing Sub-station (QICC process)
-Modification and installation of new mechanical systems including ventilation, water and drainage
-Fire detection and suppression in the affected areas and fire stop all new services
-Design, fabricate and install the new glazing shop fronts and doors
-General builders work
-All new comms for the affected areas
-Coordinate the design and installation of the new CUBIC gateline

Throughout all the works on site the contractor will be the Principal Contractor. The works will also include the full LUL assurance process through the design and construction.

For reference the contract for these works will be NEC-3 Option A

Suppliers are required to provide relevant examples of previous project experience from recent contracts including how they provided value for money.

Four suppliers will be shortlisted and invited to tender for these works. the successful four suppliers will be informed via e-mail and information will be provided as to how to access the eTender tool for the details of the tender.

The works at Canary Wharf are a pilot for further potential new retail delivery projects within the stations.

This opportunity is an opportunity for TfL to create high quality retail space to benefit our customers and potential tenants.
