description
The General Practice Forward View (GPFV) includes a commitment to deliver an additional 5,000 clinical and non-clinical staff in general practices across England. Out of these 5,000 additional staff members there is a commitment to have ''a pharmacist (whole time equivalent) per 30,000 of the population... leading to a further 1,500 pharmacists in general practice by 2020/21''. These additional 1,500 CPs are being recruited and deployed into general practice between April 2017 and March 2020.
It is estimated that 5000 general practices will participate in this programme over the next 3 financial years (18/19, 19/20 and 20/21).
The key objectives of the programme are:
| a. | To enable general practices to understand the role and capabilities of the senior clinical pharmacist/s and clinical pharmacist/s. |
| b. | To support general practices to integrate the clinical pharmacist/s into their multi-disciplinary team and enable them to work with patients and the wider primary care workforce. |
| c. | To enable reception/admin staff to signpost patients to the relevant care professional, including the clinical pharmacist. |
| d. | To provide general practices with the necessary tools and skills to review and redesign their current practices and processes to ensure that they are working as efficiently as possible. |
