The Authority has award a contract for the provision of grant management and administration services for the Global Centre on Biodiversity for Climate (GCBC).

The GCBC is an Official Development Assistance (ODA) programme seeking to achieve two outcomes:

  1. to generate robust new evidence and knowledge on the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity that demonstrates the interconnectedness of biodiversity, climate, and people, and which enables an understanding of policies, programmes and practices which have positive impacts for climate change and poverty reduction; and
  1. to create and strengthen research partnerships and networks, enabling interdisciplinary work and knowledge sharing on the conservation and sustainable

This contract is appointed a "Management Lead" to

  • administrative and financial management related to procuring research partners capable of delivering against a wide range of outcomes and thematic areas related to climate, biodiversity, and poverty reduction;
  • performance oversight, monitoring, and reporting, including risk management, and adaptive programming and learning;
  • effective communication with a variety of stakeholders, and information sharing;
  • website and data management;
  • strategic policy impact and management of scientific research, including evidence and data generation, and knowledge management;
  • at least one of the following themes:
  • a.sustainable development and poverty alleviation;
  • b.nature-based solutions;
  • c.climate change mitigation and adaptation;
  • d.biodiversity and ecosystems.
  • working with stakeholders including Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities, and national governments.

The awarding value of ~£6,700,000 is comprised of the following three elements. The value is estimated based on forecasting variable cost elements so precise statements of spend cannot be made:

i.~£1,950,000 relating to the primary term (to March 2025);
ii.~£2,500,000. relating to any potential extension (April 2025 - March 2028); and
iii.~£2,250,000 relating to the potential 50% additional capacity that can be used for this or other program requirements.
