description

The Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (OREC) is currently responsible for scoping and building out the National Floating Offshore Wind Innovation Centre (FLOWIC) facility in Aberdeen. Design studies are being tenderer for the build of these facilities, focussing on the testing of moorings and dynamic cables. OREC and the wider industry have a knowledge gap on the range of extreme and fatigue loads likely to be seen for mooring and cable infrastructure on future floating wind sites. The proposed project is to define a range of mechanical loading conditions in various geographic floating wind for both mooring and dynamic cable systems.
