This opportunity is issued by the Public Health shared team on behalf of Wokingham, West Berkshire, Reading and Slough local authorities.
The contract value is in the region of £60,000 per annum.
A weight management service is required which allows for sustained long-term movement towards and maintenance of a healthier weight among overweight or obese children and young people. Evidence based programmes offer regular, intense input often in a group based programme.
The purpose of a Child healthy lifestyle and weight management service is to contribute to the reduction of overweight and very overweight, improvement in physical activity, fitness and healthy lifestyle amongst children and their families in Berkshire. It is estimated for circa 200 children and families to access the programme per annum; there should be 10-15 children in each course.
The service aims to provide an evidenced based, accessible weight management and healthy lifestyle programme that allows sustained long-term movement towards and maintenance of a healthier weight & lifestyle among overweight or obese children and their families (young people aged 7 – 12 years) in Berkshire.
The contract duration will be for a maximum of five years, covering an initial period of three years plus two optional extensions, each of one year (i.e. 3 + 1 + 1)
This requirement excludes children from Berkshire East schools, excluding Slough and children outside of the age range 7-12 years.
