description
Since 2017, we have conducted an annual quantitative tracker which looks at the delivery and importance, both personal and societal, of the four public purposes, among 4000 adults (aged 16+) split 50% face-to-face and 50% online. There are also boosts in the nations and among some sub-groups.
The tracker also has a children's component with 4000 interviews conducted among parents of 3 to 16 year olds, also interviewing the child concerned if they were aged 8 to 16.
The data collected has official statistics status as described by the Statistics Act of 2007 and is published on the Ofcom website.
The current contract is due to finish in June 2024, we are therefore seeking to re-commission an ongoing bespoke piece of quantitative work which looks at the public perception of how the BBC fulfils the delivery of its four public purposes :
- Public purpose 1: To provide impartial news and information to help people understand and engage with the world around them.
- Public purpose 2: To support learning for people of all ages.
- Public purpose 3: To show the most creative, highest quality and distinctive output and services.
- Public purpose 4: To reflect, represent and serve the diverse communities of all the UK's nations and regions.
