description

The Government is committed to the construction of a new high-speed rail link between London and the West Midlands (Phase One), between the West Midlands and Crewe (Phase 2A), between Crewe and Manchester (Phase 2B western leg), and between West Midlands and Leeds (Phase 2B eastern leg).

The continuation of HS2 Phase 1 was confirmed by the Government's Notice to Proceed on 15th April 2020 and the subsequent release of Treasury funding for the award of Main Works Contracts.

HS2 Phase 1 will have a significant impact on the operation and design of the strategic road network (SRN) because of the number of construction and operational interactions between HS2 Phase 1 works and the SRN.
