description

DCMS commissioned research to:

  1. Understand how current and future technological trends might shape the supply-side (supply chain factors and costs) and the demand-side (i.e. how network operators buy equipment and associated services and options available) of the UK telecoms equipment market, in the next 5 to 10 years.
  2. Identify opportunities that may require policy interventions to improve the functioning of the market and the outcomes.
  3. Propose a range of short term and longer term policy options (highlighting potential market-based solutions), with a framework for practical implementation and assessment that would help us achieve our targeted diversification strategy.
