description
The Supplier is required to provide support to the city's Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) in accord with the strategic aims for the sector held by the Authority and its partner organisations.
The Authority is committed to supporting a vibrant, wide-ranging and effective VCS in Leicester, as an expression of shared common purpose, civic responsibility, integration and cohesion in the city.
The long-term strategic goal is that local VCS groups and organisations should be viable in their own right. The Authority and its partner organisations recognise that this is an ongoing process, as new groups and organisations arise from different communities and in response to emerging challenges, needs and opportunities.
As the Authority's Children and Young People's Service is a significant contributor to this funding allocation, the Supplier will be required to dedicate a specified proportion (i.e. 25%) of the total support per quarter to the city's Adventure Playgrounds, with particular emphasis on helping them with income generation.
As Leicester City Clinical Commissioning Group is a funding partner to this service, the Supplier will be required to dedicate a specified proportion (i.e. 25%) of the total support per quarter to organisations promoting or providing health and well-being services, particularly related to cardiovascular disease, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), mental health and older people, which are all strategic priority improvement areas for Leicester City CCG.
The Authority and CCG's funding threshold for this service is £320,000 for two years (£160,000 per year), with a discretionary extension of a further year. We would expect competitive pricing submissions in relation to this.
