description
Further to the successful development of the Advanced Metal Casting Centre (AMCC) and the Advanced Metal Processing Centre (AMPC) within the Brunel Centre for Advanced Solidification Technology (BCAST) at Brunel University London (BUL), the third phase development, the Future Metallurgy Centre (FMC), is now being established to expand this unique national facility for light metal research in processing and characterisation for fundamental research and industrial applications. Together with the EPSRC Future Liquid Metal Engineering Hub, AMCC and AMPC, the FMC will provide high performance light alloys, resource efficient manufacturing technologies and component innovations with advanced materials characterisation facilities to meet the long- and mid-term needs of UK industry.
The Ultra-High Cycle Fatigue Testing System is required to provide the versatility and high-performance solutions necessary for accurate and repeatable ultra-high cycle fatigue testing of materials at loads of up to 5 kN. The system should be configurable for stress-controlled tension-tension, tension-compression ultra-high frequency fatigue tests at ambient temperature on a range of materials including aluminium alloys, magnesium alloys, composites, steel, super alloys and more. The full system must include the load frame, controller, software, grips and fixtures, power (actuator) unit, packaging, delivery, off-loading and installation with commissioning, training and at least 5-year warranty or service with sufficient spares. It is required that the Supplier provides a complete turn-key solution according to our purpose.
