The Contractor shall use all reasonable endeavours to achieve the following aims:
| • | Design and deliver a survey vehicle for biannual research with classroom teachers and senior leaders in maintained schools in England; |
| • | Gather the views from a representative (stratified, random) sample of teachers and senior leaders on a wide range of questions covering topics relating to the Department's aims, priorities and policies. Questions will be determined by the Department in consultation with the Contractor. |
The Contractor shall use all reasonable endeavours to achieve the following objectives:
| • | To establish and deliver a biannual (2 waves) survey to collect data from a stratified random sample of classroom teachers and senior leaders achieving at least 1,800 responses; |
| • | To develop and use a mixed mode survey (telephone and online) to collect answers to approximately 25-35 questions (survey will be at least 20 minutes long and include 3-6 demographic questions), submitted by the Department and agreed by the contractor. The questions asked at each wave will vary according to the Department's research interests; |
| • | To test that survey respondents are likely to interpret the questions as intended to ensure high quality data are collected by conducting at least eight cognitive interviews with senior leaders and eight with classroom teachers, and piloting the questionnaire with at least 20 teachers and 20 senior leaders before finalising the questionnaire at each wave; |
| • | To provide the Department with a response at each wave which is nationally representative in terms of proportions of schools/pupils by free school meals eligibility, attainment band, region, school type and Local Authority type (weighted if necessary); |
| • | To provide the Department with timely results from both waves of the survey including; anonymised topline result; weighted data tables; a fully coded and labelled .CSV data file; powerpoint slides; a detailed presentation of findings; and a written report (either full, short or both; as required by the Department); and if required by the Department a 2-page document of publishable quality on one to two specific areas of interest to the Department. |
