description
Waverley Borough Council has a recently adopted Local Plan comprising two parts. Local Plan Part 1 was adopted in 2018 and contains strategic policies including the housing need and affordable housing requirements together with a number of strategic site allocations. Local Plan Part 2 comprises the second part of the Local Plan for the Borough and was adopted in 2023. The document contains the development management policies and a number of housing allocations in the settlements of Haslemere and Witley in addition to gypsy and traveller site allocations. There are also seven made neighbourhood plans within the Borough which form part of the development plan, several of which contain site allocations for housing. Four further neighbourhood plans are under preparation.
The Council also has a number of adopted Supplementary Planning Documents and Guidance documents on a range of planning matters including affordable housing.
Despite the Council recently adopting Local Plan Part 2, the Council is now beginning the process of preparing a new local plan which once adopted will replace Local Plan Parts 1 and 2. The plan period will be 2023 - 2043. The first stage in this process is preparing the evidence base documents to support the policies within the new local plan.
The Council is seeking to procure a consultant to prepare the Housing and Economic Needs Assessment (HEDNA) to inform the new Local Plan.
